Between his military career and the events that transpired after his return Hudson keeps everyone at a distance. He loves his family and attends the monthly dinners as required however he prefers to be alone and can’t leave soon enough. Scarlett is not only his neighbor but works for the family business as well and she has a way of infuriating him unlike anyone else.

Scarlett has a devastating past of her own which has her keeping others at a distance as well She needs to control things in all aspects of her life which doesn’t always sit well with Hudson. It doesn’t help that he has seen her at her most vulnerable not only once but twice however it is those instances that bring them closer as well.

Hudson may be grouchy, but he is also a protector, and it is when he believes he failed to protect that haunt him and he isn’t about to repeat those mistakes with Scarlett even though she is independent and bristles when he tries. Seeing them let each other into their lives and hearts was everything you could want and more. Lance Greenfiel and Kit Swann portray both the emotion and suspense of this story to perfection and have you yearning for the Hudson and Scarlett to find the happiness they both deserve.

This was a great listen. I have enjoyed the Cage Family Series and Hudson Cage gave a heartwarming story! He is grumpy, protective of those he loves, but also carries a lot of guilt from his past. Scarlet had her own demons in the form of her father and ex. I enjoyed the push and pull between them and all the reasons they couldn't but how their hearts just didn't take no. They were really great together. I enjoyed the family dinners and the mingling of the families. That teaser for the next book has been anxiously awaiting the next book.

Narrated in dual by Kit Swann and Lance Greenfield. They were easy to listen to and brought life to the characters and the small town of Cage Lake.

Hudson and Scarlett, two souls with a tragic past and hiding behind the facade find each other when not looking. All their interactions have been on necessity only and usually with shouts or disdain involved but after one too many (un)fortunate events they start developing a friendship and ultimately falling in love. This was a beautiful story of fighting the ghosts of the past that sometimes are still present in the present for a better future and ultimately a better you.
Kit Swann as Scarlett, was brave and strong; Lance Greenfield portrayed the mysterious warrior that was Hudson.

The Cage Family series continues to enthrall me and I've been waiting for Hudson to have his time to shine.

Without a doubt, the entirety of the Cage family is a bit of a dramatic mess, the victims of the drama being the, now grown, children from two separate families...with the same absent father.

The story of the reclusive Hudson and Scarlett is not drama free by any means but once Hudson’s protective streak is unveiled, there is no stopping his pursuit.

There we're definite highs and lows to this latest Cage installment but, to be fair, it's what I've come to expect from this ever growing family.

As usual Carrie Ann Ryan writes a compelling tale that is difficult to turn away from. It takes hold from the first page to the last.

One Quick Obsession is definitely worthy of being added to everyone's tbr!

The Cages are fun to read, even grumpy Hudson, and as always I ended up loving it way more than I expected. The story is flirty, fast-paced, and full of great chemistry, but it also has a surprising amount of heart. The banter was fun, the connection felt real, and I flew through it in no time. It is perfect if one’s in the mood for a steamy, feel-good romance that’s easy to devour in one sitting.
