About this listen
I had spent a lifetime perfecting the art of planning ahead, accounting for every known variable and a few that were mere speculation. It was necessary, to live the life I had, to do the things I had done and come out on the other side.
So by the time I arrived at the storms-forsaken Summit, I had spent every day of the years prior carefully, meticulously assessing each situation and weighing the best potential outcome, knowing that my clansmen lived and died on my ability to do it well.
In spite of that, I don’t believe there was anything in this world or the next that could have prepared me for her Volume I will cover the first two books of the Lochlann Feuds series from Evander’s perspective. It is strongly encouraged for listeners to wait until *after* Lochlann Feuds to listen to this companion novel.

Lochlann Feuds (along with most of ElBin’s books) will always be an automatic re-read for me, and now, an automatic re-listen.
I thought I was completely satisfied with Rowan’s incredible quartet of books… that is, of course, until Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison decided to bless us with a companion novel.
And then I listened to it.
The audiobook is "performed by" Adam Gold and he is absolutely not exaggerating with that wording. He was a perfect Evander. The brooding, the storms-blasted intensity, the softening we only get in fleeting, dangerous moments… he captured all of it.
Onyx Cage is written from the POV of Evander, heir to Clan Bear, Rowan’s captor, and the storm cloud to her sass.
As it’s a companion novel to the Lochlann Feuds series, I wouldn’t recommend listening to this before finishing the main series as it would simply be too confusing. But once you’ve binged Rowan’s journey? This is the perfect way to prolong your time in Socair. It would also be brilliant for a tandem read/listen.
Onyx Cage is a perfection: witnessing Rowan's chaos through Evander's eyes whilst simultaneously providing depth to well loved main and side characters alike is a juggling act that shouldn't be possible. The evolution from Rowan as "Princess Pain-in-the-arse" to "My Feral Princess" was exquisite and the angst was palpable (even more so when you can hear it in his voice). Elle and Robin even managed to bring a bit of humour to our beloved aalio.
Moody MMC energy, angst, saunas and arseprint competitions: what’s not to love?
