Liana didn’t believe in the gods… until she saved the life of one.
When the Queen of Moranza is assassinated, an enduring peace comes to an end. Meanwhile, her daughter, Liana, has gone missing. Reports suggest she has travelled into the neighbouring country of Dawan—the home of those who killed the queen.
In Dawan, and unaware of her mother’s death, Liana answers a plea for help from a dying man, unwittingly saving the god hidden inside him. Except now that god is trapped within her, fated to remain until the day she dies before passing to another.
Against the backdrop of a looming war, can she find a way to release the god inside her without dying? For a thousand years, no one ever has…

By chapter 2, I was hooked! There was so much that already happened in such little time. The descriptions and build ups to the many events that happen, flow together so easily and well. You can picture everything that happens as and when it happens.
I listened to the audiobook along with reading the physical copy of the book, and the narrator that Damien chose was a perfect fit. Not only did the intense moments hit their mark, but I didn't expect to feel so emotional with them. It was an emotional rollercoaster. I have developed deep attachments to all of the characters and was rooting for some more than others. (If you know, you know).
10/10 floppiness for the physical copy of the book. This is one of the few occasions where this level of floppiness is appreciated. The quality of the book is great. The spine didn't crack when reading, which is normally the inevitable.
If you decide to read this book, and I think you should. PLEASE have an emotional support teddy, blanket or pet. This is your warning!
Amazing book, I would recommend to anyone that enjoys fantasy. As much as I have been mad at Damien, and how I think he is a mean mean man for the events in this book, I'm still very excited to get my hands on the next of the series.
I'm ready for the next book!
