As a boy Evan Smoak was taken from an orphanage. Raised and trained in a top secret programme, he was sent to bad places to do things the government denied ever happened. Then he broke with the programme, using what he'd learned to vanish. Now he helps the desperate and deserving. But someone's on his trail. Someone who knows his past and believes that the boy once known as Orphan X must die .
“Outstanding in every way.” LEE CHILD
“Tight and tense in all the right places . . . Orphan X is weapons-grade thriller-writing from a modern master.” GUARDIAN.©2015 Gregg Hurwitz (P)2015 Brilliance Audio

This is not my genre or style of writing but phew what a wonderful book. For the first time in a long time I wondered about him. The writing is wonderful , it’s a great blend of allowing you just enough to be utterly intrigued by Evan. Narration is good , well paced and not overly done , the action scenes - of which there are many have just the right amount of light and shade , a wonderfully well danced duet between by the narrator and writer - the combination you are looking for in an audio book. Personally it is now one of my favourites though I doubt I will revisit it. It’s a blast of a story not a familiar , old friend. Evan is a great hero , the story has enough female leads so as to be interesting and his morality simple and true. It’s not a complicated book but Evan is simple and complex enough to be the hero you want him to be. I’m Late to the party given the publish date - but bravo Gregg. Bravo. What heart you put into this book. I’ve downloaded book 2 already and can only hope it’s not like first albums. That you have saved some for the rest of the books.
Oh Evan
