Would you consider the audio edition of Others to be better than the print version?

I have not read the book.The detail of the characterS was very good, I didn't realise this was based on a true events and shocked me even more at the end to fine this out. The book was very good at putting both views across.

What other book might you compare Others to, and why?

I would compare this with Beautiful Mind and The Elephant Man

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I think the scene in the News agent was very effective

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didnt want to put this book down, I actually found it hard to sleep until i finished it.

I loved Others by James Herbert a lot. It was a gripping, disturbing action packed book full of believable characters.

The reader was good, but back in the early 2000s I bought the abridged version on cassette read by Robert Powell and I honestly think that he was a better reader with more expression and better voices than the bloke who read the unabridged version. I've forgotten his name!!! Don't get me wrong, he was a good leader just not as good as Robert Powell.

I honestly couldn't stop listening to this book and have been getting on average of 4 hours sleep per night because I've listened to it almost constantly over the past week.

If you like to be disturbed then this is the book for you!!!

Just loved this book. Gripping tale excellently narrated. One of James Herbert's best for me. Written with a very good expression of urgency which sweeps you along on the proverbial emotional rollercoaster and invoking disturbing images which James Herbert obviously wanted to project. This story will sit both pleasantly and disturbingly in my mind for a while...

The plot itself is very good, and most aspects such as the language, characters and construct are very good.
I grew impatient with overlong festering descriptions, dwelling on Dis’ infirmities/deformities, and a bit of conflict in his behaviour such as coolly breaking into a dangerous place and then becoming frozen into inaction when danger threatens.
But overall a good story excellently performed.

Not my favourite James Herbert story to be honest. I think it goes a bit too far in to the realms of fairy tales for me. Faries, pixies, elves etc, but it's still wonderfully written in true James Herbert style (& more than a little steamy!!). If you're reading this review while browsing, you may see another Audible narration of this story. That version is only 2hrs 55mins long and costs £7.95. Considering this is 17hrs 28mins and costs less when combined with the Kindle Whispersync.
