Summary

I loved this. Karin Kallmaker is a very poetic writer and she evokes so many feelings. One of which is sheer frustration at times when neither of the two main characters are communicating that well.
Abby Craden is, as ever, a superlative storyteller that invests so much into the books she narrates.
The two extra chapters at the end were an unexpected and delightful bonus.

I read this book many moon's ago (did you see what I did there).
The narrated version does the book justice .
Both characters are loveable all though I did want to shout at leigh .
I loved the mini stories at the end , more books need this .

What a great story and great characters. Beautifully read as usual by Abby. Love the mini stories at the end to show what happened in their lives. Love it!!

Karin deals with themes of coming out, homophobia, grief and surrogacy in this thoughtful romance. With such a broad spectrum inevitably much is skimmed over and gentle. There are contrasting responses to coming out and the legal unequalities for same sex couples that fuel heartlessness.

Jackie is having doubts about her self centered boyfriend. Leah has spent 2years in a remote cabin after the death of her long term love of her life girlfriend.

Jackie and Leah are very likeable characters and there is some sparkling dialogue which Karin uses to navigate and explore both romance and life's challenges. Angst is there but the characters have enough care about them not pull up the drawbridge and circle the wagins.

It is warm hearted romance with some imaginative erotic scenes.
