I'm not a medical person but I do love books about the subject inc pathology etc so when they one popped up in the Plus Catalogue I gave it a whirl.
What a book! Philip Allen Green weaves his memories from the ER room into wonderful, technicolour stories which go beyond the usual rote of patient ailments. He gives humanity to each of them in a way not often found in this genre.
David De Vries narrates it beautifully and while I have no idea if he and the author sound even remotely alike, his voice carries the stories perfectly as if they are his own.
A couple of reviewers mentioned about mis-pronouciation grating with them but being British listening to an American, there are so many differences already I would be pressed to know if he had fluffed some medical term so I can't say this was an issue to me.

I found this book really fascinating and easy to listen to .
I learnt a lot and the smooth calm reading voice helped me settle before bed.
The stories have stayed with me! I just wish it was longer x

short stories of patients met in the ER by the treating physician. Some made me cry and I will remember them.

I really enjoyed listening to this book, makes people realise that hospital staff are as human as we are.. and how patients can affect them with the highs & lows
