In New World, there were no secrets. Everyone could hear everyone else's thoughts in a constant, overwhelming Noise. Then a cure came – one that the second generation took from birth. Peace descended, wars ended, communication was silenced.

Until now... Brothers Ben and Max have never really gotten on, each being more like one of their parents – Todd and Viola.

But when something is spotted in the night sky – something that's bringing back dreams of Noise, dreams of terror – the brothers will have to come together.

Danger is coming and the family will be tested like never before.

A truly worthy follow-up to The Chaos Walking Saga and possibly my favourite audible book so far. Great voice acting and perfect blend of familiar and unfamiliar characters to start this new series which perfectly balances character development and action. Hope Mr Ness is prompt with part 2!

A thrill to be back in New World

The original Chaos Walking trilogy was spectacular, fully deserving all the plaudits and awards given, Now Patrick Ness has set himself the scary task of matching that success with a second trilogy that builds on the first and introduces a new generation alongside their parents. Humans and Spackle (now properly known as Land), live in fragile co-existance. But a new invader appears in the skies, sending an advance party of "Gods" to stir alarm and to begin the capture of young people from amongst humans and the "Land". The story gathers pace from the first page but doesn't neglect to give the reader/listener a satisfyingly deep context and character development that is Patrick's hallmark. The plot has all the thrills, twists and scares that appeal to younger viewers yet this is sc/fi at its best and has equal appeal to the generation brought up on Chaos Walking. This is serious authorship, infused with important and relevant issues of gender, kinship, and those big questions of power, morality, loss and hope, first addressed in the original trilogy. Patrick and his publishers have another stunning hit on their hands and I couldn't be more thrilled.

A riverting story

I was so excited when I heard there was to be a continuation of the Chaos walking.
Previously I read the books so was a little apprehensive to change to audio but I wasn’t disappointed.
This is a great first book in the new series and I love Todd and Viola are in this too. It’s a great listen and I can’t wait to follow their story some more.

Loved it
