About this listen

He was my very survival. Without him, I was nothing.

Pippin (Sampson)

I’m broken, hiding my pain behind fake smiles and pretend joy. Inside, I’m a mental mess between being tossed into conversion therapy and foster care as a kid. I struggle to focus and suffer anxiety, panic attacks, and nightmares. My passions for skateboarding and bartending make me happy enough. But only Nate, my former foster brother and best friend, calms me and keeps me going forward. I’m not sure what I would do without him. Even worse, I secretly love him. Loving him could mean losing him.

Nacho (Nate)

I’d been in and out of foster care for as long as I could remember. My last home was with Sam. We quickly became friends, and I instantly went into protective mode. After Sam got hurt by our foster father, I took Sam out of there and watched over him for two years while living on the streets. When you spend a lifetime not being wanted by anyone, you crave being needed, and Sam needs me. But I secretly love him. I’ve told my friends I don’t want to ruin my friendship with Sam. The truth is if we don’t work out, I won’t be there to take care of him. Sam’s needs are more important than my feelings.

Saw a glimpse of Pippin & Nacho in Stix and Stone and couldn’t wait to listen to their story. Two very sweet, very broken boys whose were best friends. And one day they figured out that they both had feelings for each other. Their past broke my heart. But love their love for each other. Amazing narration by Harley Chase.

Love Pippin & Nacho

The 2nd book in the Alpha Rejects series. I cannot tell you how much I loved this book without spoilers! Just trust me, it is so good. It can be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend Stix & Stone (Book 1). Pippin (Sam) & Nacho (Nate) are fabulously dimensional characters, and I quickly felt like they were part of my circle. I loved all the side characters and yes, Courtney, we most definitely need a Cueball story.

Harley Chase is the perfect narrator for both Pippin & Nacho. I truly felt Pippin's anxiety rise and the love was palpable between these best friends.

These two have been through so much pain, and yet they have each other.
They've always been caring and supportive of each other and secretly in love with one another as well.
Neither has said anything out of fear of losing what they do have.
I loved how supportive they were of each other and the found family they created for themselves.
Harley Chase did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

Emotionally compelling

Pippin & Nacho is the second book in the Alpha’s Rejects series, this can be read as a standalone which is how I read it however I would recommend starting with the first book for the best reading experience.

Harley Chase was the perfect narrator for this story and I truly did not want this to end, I finished this in one sitting and just wanted more and more from these characters

I knew from the opening of this book that I would absolutely love this, and I was not wrong. There is something about an MM romance with the hurt/comfort trope which just hits different and I absolutely ate this book up.

This is such a beautiful and poignant story, the love story between Sam and Nate was beyond perfection. This book delves heavily into mental health, and the representation within this book in my opinion is absolutely phenomenal.

I would definitely recommend reading this book, and I will 100% be checking out other books by this author.

Phenomenal

Okay, so, "Pippin & Nacho" by Courtney Dixon is seriously good! I was totally hooked from the start. The story is just so compelling, and the characters? Amazing! Pippin and Nacho (aka Nate and Sam) are absolutely lovable, and their connection is just everything.

Dixon writes with so much heart, you can't help but get completely wrapped up in their world. There's a perfect mix of feels – some tough stuff, but also so much sweetness and tenderness. It's one of those books that stays with you long after you've finished reading.

The book touches difficult subjects like conversion therapy, trauma, abandonment issues, abusive parents/guardians, homelessness, and poverty.

The narrator, Harley Chase, did a great job of giving life to these two characters.
