Summary

Welcome to Planet Hero! Attention civilians! In the event of superhero on villain battling, seek immediate shelter. And if a villain decides to kidnap you, hold you hostage, or attempts to rob and/or kill you, please remain calm, heroes will arrive shortly. Thank you for your support!

Dr. Davis Malory never planned to become a hero or a villain. He never planned on obtaining superpowers. He certainly never planned on being transported to a world filled with such people. And he most definitely never considered that he would have to become one if he ever wanted to find a way back to Earth.

But Planet Hero doesn't care about what Davis wants. If he wants to survive everything that is about to be thrown at him, he'll have to cultivate his superpowers and learn to navigate this new world or going home will be the least of his worries. Davis' days as a civilian are officially over.

This was a quick read ( well listen in my case since I prefer buying audiobooks if possible). I knew before hand that this book was not to be taken too seriously and I was looking for something to pass the time between other book series releases.

With that said, I somewhat enjoyed the book. At times it was a bit cliche and the plot was fairly predictable. I liked the way the author blended the classics wuxia cultivation ideas with LitRPG elements and with a touch of sci-fi nano-machinery to create his own unique brand of superhero tropes. I know at this point most people are fed up with superhero books, but I’m not at that point yet. The narrator was clear and did a good job of conveying character emotions and ideas; however, the story was nothing new and that took away from the performance.

Overall I’d still want to read the second book if only to see how the author expands on the character development and world building.

Looking for something to pass the time.

I really thought this was cool. I liked it when we got level up info and the stats, it helped with the vibe and fit really well with the story and the feel of the book. It was awesome. I liked the action elements and superhero feel. The last half of the book when the civilian hero did battle with the bad guys was cool. The characters were interesting and the one liners which lead to banter were really great, it gives a bit of depth and interest to the characters.

I thought that all of the elements of this book worked really well and fit together. If you like the synopsis you will definitely like the book!

I also enjoyed the narration with the narrators voice fitting well with the feel of the story. It was also engaging and easy to listen to so helped to bring the story to life.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

One of the things I really liked, was the powers of the MC, Time and Space. I've not listened to any books with the same focus and it works really well.

I will be getting all the books in the series.

Really enjoyed this book.

After a tiring shift, and a road rage incident, Dr.Davis Mallorey's day on earth ends when he is sucked into an explosion and through a portal to a new place: Planet Hero. Unable to return, and he adapts, assuming a new identity, that of the original Dr.Portal, to save the world for the Hero's Association. The story is reminiscent of a LitRPG, with plenty of moving up statistics, and some good character names, like Major Miracle, head of the Heros, and the trip of heavies, kidnap, And, and Ransom. Great fun and a novel Comic Hero story.

Narration was by the great Jeffrey Kafer, who fully entered into the fun of the story whilst retaining a calm, well paced and nicely intoned reading. Another good performance. My thanks to the rights holder of Planet Hero who, at my request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Audiobook Boom. It I had my doubts when first I started reading, but these were soon put aside as the fun of the book overcame any doubts. It appears that there might be a follow-up book one day: if sk, I will definitely want to read jt
