Even though it was a vast subject matter Dan Jones has worked his magic again. Broken down into manageable chunks. Informative with Dan's usual engaging style.

Totally enlightening for me. Lived the way Dan structures the book to help understand how changes in key areas operate around Europe at similar times. I would like to buy the book now to study it more closely. Thoroughly recommend

Easy to follow most enjoyable

The largest in scope of any Dan Jones project that I've encountered. As a consequence, events can be tricky to keep in your head especially with an audiobook, but if this is a fault of the author's it is only in ambition.

Superbly written with a view to taking you into the lives of its subjects, definite recommendation for anyone interested in the period or who has previously enjoyed Dan Jones' writings
