About this listen

A short story set in the small, fictional town of Now, Indiana, circa 1940. A man, Troy, returns to his hometown after 10 years when he is diagnosed with cancer in his prime. Distraught, Troy visits a local antique store on Halloween night, hoping to find something to comfort him in his last weeks.

He stumbles across a painting so compelling, he must have it at all cost - he must have it...now! Soon, Troy learns there is something more to the painting than for which he bargained. Something diabolical.

Only Michael Bussa could have written this much in such a short audiobook, it’s a talent that he possess.
Every word is just right, really amazing book.
He sure knows how to grab you from the first word to the last in a beautiful creation which keeps twisting you around the whole time.
And when he coupled it with Krage Brown to do a perfect narration you get a masterpiece.
And it’s not the first time that he surprises like that with his books.
I only wish that his book would have kept going longer but on the other hand I’ve listened to so many books that where much much longer saying much much less.

I fully recommend this magical audiobook!

A well written horror story by Michael Bussa which would sit nicely in the Twilight Zone. The synopsis given fully covers the basics, to say more would reveal it all. Suffice it to say that, whilst there was a predictability from early in the story, the ending was still surprising. The writing is atmospheric, the lights dimmed and things go bump not necessarily in the night.
This feeling of shivers down the spine is enhanced by Krage Brown's very pleasant reading. No tricks to get in the way of the text, just a well intoned telling, slightly slowly paced. Much better than any attempts at spookiness.

A short story which packs a lot of creepiness and suspense, with good basic characterisation and great visuals. Love the knitting! Good fun.
