Introduction and Notes by Dr Ian Littlewood, University of Sussex. Pride and Prejudice, which opens with one of the most famous sentences in English Literature, is an ironic novel of manners. In it the garrulous and empty-headed Mrs Bennet has only one aim - that of finding a good match for each of her five daughters. In this she is mocked by her cynical and indolent husband. With its wit, its social precision and, above all, its irresistible heroine, Pride and Prejudice has proved one of the most enduringly popular novels in the English language.

Talking Classics remain some of the best abridged versions of novels such as this. Joanna Lumley provides wonderful narration. Recommended. Excellent.

So enjoyable

I love P and P and I love Joanna lumley. It was very swift so in some ways this was good as no time to drift off and think of something else but in other ways it was over far too soon.

Just wonderful

Lovely

Though very well read by Joanna Lumley it’s not the full version and cuts out much of the conversation which the novel centres around. If you are an avid Austen lover you may find it over simplified and wanting.
