Summary

He seethes with raw power the first time I see him - pure menace and rippling muscles in shackles. He's dangerous. He's wild. He's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

So, I hide behind my prim glasses and my book like I always do, because I have secrets, too. Then, he shows up in the prison writing class I have to teach, and he blows me away with his honesty. He tells me secrets in his stories, and it's getting harder to hide mine. I shiver when he gets too close, with only the cuffs and the bars and the guards holding him back. At night, I can't stop thinking about him in his cell.

But that's the thing about an animal in a cage - you never know when he'll bite. He might use you to escape. He might even pull you into a forest and hold a hand over your mouth so you can't call for the cops. He might make you come so hard you can't think.

And you might crave him more than your next breath...

Praise for the book:

"Sexy, dark, and thrilling. I loved every second of it!" (The New York Times best-selling author Katie Reus)

"Dark, sexy, and intense, Prisoner is an emotional ride that does not let go until the end. I loved it!" (USA Today best-selling author Kristen Callihan)

Loved the story and the male voice . The female voice was a bit over the top.

I don't know where to start, I loved this immediately from the prison setting and the build up of their scintillating chemistry i was completely drawn in. It was dark, sexy thrilling and I cannot wait to read hostage.

This book had a conflict inside of me from the beginning, but as I learned more about each character that conflict was resolved and I fell in love with both characters. A teacher who teaches in a prison is taken captive by one of her students as he escapes from prison. At first I didn’t like him very much because I thought he was a criminal, but then as you learn more about him and know that he’s wrongfully in prison it definitely helped me warm up to him. The narrators did an amazing job bringing this book to life.

Wow, this book was amazing! I loved every minute of it. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the very end. I had listened to Hostage first, which is book 2 of the series, and absolutely loved it so I couldn't wait to listen to this one too. It is emotional, raw and dark but deep down there is also a beautiful love story between two broken characters. I really, really hope more books get added to this series because it is one of my all time favorites. Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet did a wonderful job bringing this story to life. They brought out all the emotions of each character perfectly.

First let me just state- there’s actual rape in this story- the hero rapes the heroine since there was no consent (She was drugged). I really enjoyed the story and their push and pull before that happened and then I was shocked at how that happened. This story is dark, but it draws you in and I still continued reading even after that part because I wanted to see what happens and because this is not real. I guess I can suspend disbelief that the lack of consent was ok because the two characters have such an attraction to each other.

But be forewarned, if you have an issue with lack of consent and can’t suspend disbelief, this will be a problem for you.

Grayson is innocent of the crime he’s being jailed for. He gets the opportunity to get a message out to his family through Abby’s writing class. She’s an unwitting victim. During the breakout, she gets caught up and becomes his prisoner. But he’s also a prisoner of his past and he did, in fact, have a horrible past. They both have to get past this horror in order to be together. Abby is young-only about 19 and still in college so it feels like this could be a nod to Stockholm syndrome.

The narrators are amazing- I love listening to Jacob Morgan and the subtle emotions he infuses into his voice really elevate the story. Lauren Sweet was also good- she has a young voice that fits Abby perfectly. She played the multiple characters well.
