About this listen

A small town, a murder, a fraternity, and a tangled web of people, politics, and lies.

When Senator Marcus Thornton is killed at an engagement party in his hometown, amateur sleuth Sheridan Hendley is drawn into the investigation alongside her detective husband. With a reputation for flip-flopping on political issues, Thornton's death sparks suspicion. Broken promises and hidden agendas lead to dangerous undercurrents.

As Sheridan delves deeper into the case, she uncovers a network of social connections and a history of infidelity that may have played a role in Thornton’s murder. But with so many suspects and conflicting motives, can she piece together the truth? Is the killer’s motive political or personal? Or both?

Fans of cozy mysteries will be hooked by this nail-biting whodunit.

I enjoyed this book. This is another interesting murder for psychology professor Sheridan to find herself caught up in. I liked how the motive for the murder was up in the air for most of the book, with a number of possible motives. I had no clue who the killer was and never did guess which motive it would prove to be. I like catching up with the characters and spending time at pets and paws (the animal shelter that no matter how caught up in the murder investigation Sheridan is, she still manages to find time to help with) it always proves fun. This is book 11 in the series and it doesn't seem like the author will be running out of story lines anytime soon. Yeah!

With Maddie off to college, Sheridan and Brett are out for the evening when Brett gets the phone call saying everybody is needed for a high profile case. A senator was murdered at an engagement party which included a lot of prominent familys in attendance. With the widow in distreheridan steps in to help and when the police are unable to question the grieving family they once again turn to Sheridan for help. Can Sheridan help find the clue that leads to the killer? The bodyguards didn't see what happened, leaving the team to rely on videos and photos from the party to identify the killer but with so many woman cozying up to the senator it proves a difficult task. A task that has them questioning if they will find there killer.
The narrator was okay but I did check to see if it was an AI narrator because she did sound a bit robotic at times.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Politics gives you plenty of motives

My first review, with over a thousand books in my library.
The book has potential, maybe, but totally ruined by the narration.
If you do go for it, then accept my challenge to listen to it all.
Listen for the monotone delivery, bad timing, slaughter of the moment; when taking a breath instead of pushing on with the words breathlessly, which would give meaning to the authors words.
This could become a cult book for budding audio narrators.
How not to do it.
Suffice to say . . I didn't like the narration, the book? I have no idea, I was too busy listening to narration delivery to hear the story. Just know it included alot of dog baths for stray dogs and other stuff.
Good luck.

Don't do it, unless you want a challenge!

narrator was dreadful . spoilt the story..... had to give up .
monotonous. None of the characters came to life or had any personality. Didn't do the author any favours....could have been a very good read.

could have been good.
