Summary
KINDLE STORYTELLER AWARD WINNER 2025
Alice French is an emotional wreck. She’s left her toxic lover. She’s probably going to lose her job. She’s even about to ruin her expensive heels when she stumbles upon a barely conscious stranger one night…
All Alice wants to do is go home and lick her wounds, but she’s compelled to help. Who is this strange man? Why is he mumbling about a pig? And why can’t she stop flirting with Ash, the gorgeous A&E doctor? Alice needs to sort her life out, but when it comes to Ash and her disarming smile, things could be about to get a whole lot messier.
As Alice delves into the mystery, she starts to see her life with newfound clarity, and unexpected possibilities bloom.
Pyg is threaded with humour, heart, and intrigue. It's a sapphic story exploring a life transformation with a side of romance!

I’ve struggled to complete a book this year, but PYG had me enthralled and entertained throughout.
With quirky one liners and a realistic amount of mayhem, I laughed out loud on more than one occasion.
The relationship between each character was executed well and I genuinely grinned far too many times whilst out driving. I must have looked a right nutter.
I’d love to see a second instalment! I’m not sure if that’s something that’s in the works, but I honestly don’t think I’ve seen quite enough of Alice, Ash and Fran just yet.
For me, this was a superb introduction to the writing of Landers-Letts and I’m waiting patiently to see/hear/paw over more.
I’m sure I’ve managed to annoy everyone this week by constantly mentioning the story, but it’s genuinely worth a read. If you love sapphic romance with a bit of spice, humour and a somewhat slow burn, this book should be on your list.
Desperate for more.

whilst I might be a little biased on this novel, it was another favourite for me this year!
Marisa Calin captures Pip Landers-Letts’ British humour and enriches the depth of characters; especially the wonderful and loveable mess that is Alice French! Beautifully narrated, you’ll love the new dimension to this modern sapphic retelling of Pygmalion accentuating Alice’s bubbly charm, Ash’s vulnerable but steady presence, the velvety full bodied tones of Fran, and charismatic no nonsense Maggie. Listening to Pyg brought a whole new level of enjoyment to this already fabulous story!

This is a beautifully written story about connections, seizing unexpected opportunities and developing a sense of self that doesn’t rely on someone else.
Alice French is introduced to us as a complete wreck. Emotionally, she’s involved with the wrong person, physically, the same. It’s only when a chance encounter gives her the chance to reveal her Good Samaritan, she begins to slowly come back to herself. Making friends and an unexpected connection along the way in the form of Ash, a soft spoken and sexy Doctor.
What I loved about this was that whilst Alice was a main character, so was the delightful George. His life story, so delicately told, was intriguing and I was completely and utterly invested. Devastatingly heartbreaking at times, (you nearly lost me around a certain incident involving Pyg- You know what I’m talking about ) but incredibly heart warming at the same time.
Ash was delicious. The sexy doctor (complete with accent) is just a marvellous human. Her support of Alice from the start unwavering. I loved the development of her back story and the cultural exploration is wonderful.
What I loved about this was the completely textured feel. So many characters, interwoven, developed expertly and without being superficial.
Narrated by the wonderful Marisa Calin, her accents, voices and performance is incredible. I adore her voice and this is no exception. Delivering the ‘Brit’ well, she managed a whole host of accents whilst maintaining wonderful authenticity.
Captivating!
