Summary

"God save the Queen! God save our good Queen Mary"! When these words rang out over England, Mary Tudor thought her troubles were over. She could put her painful past - the loss of her mother and mistreatment at the hands of her father - behind her. With her accession to the throne, Mary set out to restore Catholicism in England and find the love of a husband that she had long desired. But the tragedies in Mary's life were far from over. How did a gentle, pious woman become known as "Bloody Mary"?

I greatly enjoyed this book, learning from a different perspective of Queen Mary I. However the narration was appalling, her pronunciation was laughable, her accent annoying. I would have thought some research would have been done for the pronunciation of names and places at least.

Good story, dreadful narration

The story itself is very good, however this was spoilt by the awful narration, mis-pronounced names etc.

Narrator has an awful accent. If she is American, as google suggests, she does a poor English accent, which I presume is the aim, given the book is about Queen Mary 1. She also mispronounces many things, most annoyingly the name of the main character. Mary is NOT pronounced 'marry'.

Really bad narration
