Summary

Quiet Strength is a simple, modern guide to ancient wisdom you can use today. Inspired by the Maxims of Ptahhotep, it turns timeless principles—humility, justice, balance—into short stories and small, practical steps. Each chapter follows a clear rhythm: a maxim in plain English, a relatable story, a brief discussion, reflection questions, and one do-able challenge.

You’ll learn how to listen before speaking, lead without ego, steady your emotions, work with integrity, and build habits that last on your worst week. Whether you’re leading a team, raising a family, or rebuilding your routine, this audiobook keeps things clear and concrete. No jargon. No lectures. Just everyday tools for calmer conflicts, kinder conversations, and a more balanced life. Quiet Strength fits listeners of personal development, leadership, and practical philosophy—and anyone who wants wisdom they can act on in minutes, not months.

The author tells us of discovering the translation of ancient Egyptian scrolls from a thought-leader living thousands of years ago. The approach is similar to, but pre-dates, the Stoics. The format is consistent and understandable with a modern English summation of the maxim, a story of how that may be applied in life, a discussion of the principles and closing with an implementation suggestion or exercise.

This is the review of the audiobook version, as I think the print version would be handier for reference and review. A tip would be to book mark the beginning of each of the thirty maxims and create your own index of what they are. Because implementation is an important part of the value, it's not suitable or so useful to listen straight through, even though it's only 38 minutes for 30 maxims.

The narrator sounded a little rushed at times although the tone was conversational and friendly.
