About this listen

After a long and murky career with the FBI, Brigid Quinn is trying to move on. She's got a nice house. Dogs. A husband who knows nothing of her past. But the abduction and murder of a young female colleague still haunts her.

So when the girl's body is finally found, and a man confesses to the murder, Brigid is desperate for answers. Yet the more she learns, the more convinced she is that they have the wrong man. Following leads that the Bureau ignored, she's propelled straight into the path of a ruthless serial killer. One who has evaded the law for decades, and will stop at nothing to keep her quiet...

But Brigid Quinn is a woman to be reckoned with.

I very much enjoyed this audio book and thought the voice of the narrator was perfect for Quinn. I do not want to give anything away but my only slight dissatisfaction with the story was the reasons for her going it alone both at the beginning of the story and at the end, which seemed to me a little flimsy. The scene at the end was not entirely satisfactory as the perpetrator seemed to act out of character. However these were very minor quibbles in an excellent story which kept me guessing until the end.

Brilliant narration

I was so looking forward to reading this as the summary seemed so interesting. I have had it on my reading list for ages and finally got it.
On a positive note I will say the narrative was great and really aided the story.
However the story lets this down completely. The idea of an older female detective was very appealing. The story dragged on. Some of the outcomes came out of nowhere and only went to confuse the plot. I did stick with it as I hoped it would get better. It did come together in the end but not worth it in my opinion. It may be of interest to some readers but not for me I'm afraid I will be asking Audible for a refund on this one.
