About this listen

The next book in the series from the bestselling author Rosie Clarke of The Harpers Emporium and The Mulberry Lane Series.

There are hard times ahead for the Harpers Girls...

1914 Oxford Street, London

It is two years since Harpers Emporium opened its doors and life is good for Sally and Ben Harper as they look forward to the arrival of their first child.

Beth Burrows is settling into married life with Jack and is gradually recovering from her miscarriage and Aunt’s tragic death.

Harpers welcomes some new faces and they all become part of the daily life at the busy store.

However, whilst the sun is shining on the streets of London, dark clouds gather over Europe as war looms threatening rainy days for the girls…

A heart-warming saga following the lives, loves and losses of the Harpers Girls.
Perfect for fans of Lizzie Lane, Pam Howes and Dilly Court.

'Brilliant read. Wonderful characters that draw you into Harpers world. Thoroughly enjoyable' - Kitty Neale

Disappointing that the same narrator changed the voices of so many characters from the previous two books.

Changed voices off putting

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series and was delighted to download book no 3. But, no comparison. The narration is an abomination!!!! The voices created for the characters in the first readings absolutely fitted. Now, they are farcical and hard to listen to. I see that the next books in the series have the same narrator and I feel I have been thoroughly let down!!! Would give performance a minus if possible.

Why change narrators?

Story excellent but cannot understand why all the character's have totally different accents than in the previous two books, spoilt it a bit for me.

Shame about the narrating

Thoroughly enjoyable with the exception of this narrator. The first two audio books in this series are narrated by the same person. She portrayed Sally Harper as a young London woman with no airs and graces and certainly with an orphanage background not with a clipped accent. So I did not enjoy this audio book as much as this characters voice was akin to Mrs Craven and not down to earth.

As for the story -many twists and turns and I will continue with the whole series as it is thoroughly enjoyable.

Like Selfridges the tv drama

Why do this? I’ve read a review about this which I wholeheartedly agree with. I’d gotten used to the characters and how they sanded. Lo and behold book 3 in the series and it’s someone else doing the reading. It’s a great book series but the change of Narrator has spoilt it for me.

Halfway through the series and they change the Narrator!
