Summary

Before the story continues, there's another which must be told..."Space is nothing but a graveyard..."

These were the words uttered by leader of the Utopia mission, Admiral Harry Ransome, in the year 2342. It was the last transmission he ever sent. 150 years later, he is discovered on a distant frozen planet, very much alive having barely aged a day.

This story tells the tale of what happened to Harry Ransome between the sending of that fateful message and the end of 'Horizon.'

Ransome is a gripping slice of dark sci-fi horror that doesn’t hold back. Packed with blood, guts, and gore, it also weaves in themes of betrayal, love, and loss that give it surprising emotional weight. The mysterious, oppressive darkness and terrifying aliens create a constant sense of dread. The sound design is especially immersive, making every moment feel intense and real. It’s thrilling and chilling—I loved it—but definitely not something I’d recommend listening to alone in the dark!

I love Horizon so reading it's companion novel, Ransome, was a no-brainer. It connects the dots between Horizon and Emergence perfectly, and expertly combines vibes from.the Star Trek and Alien franchises in its own unique way. The narrator did an excellent job and the sound effects add to the atmosphere as intended. Unquestionably recommended reading for sci-fi horror fans!

A brilliant addition to the Horizon series
