The story is interesting and a bit different from a lot of the other darkish romances. But the story is stretched out by long inner monologues and page fillers that doesn’t really drive the story forwards, so by the end of the first book, the story is really just beginning. When it continued the same way in the second book, I dnf the series.

I fell in love with this book when I first read it years ago, and when I saw that Kasi Hallowell was narrating it, I didn’t even hesitate to buy and listen to it. To think I couldn’t love it more than I already did. Oh boy, was I wrong!

The narrators really brought this story to life and did an amazing job while at it! Kasi was outstanding and exactly how I portrayed Sawyer!

The story is well-written and very captivating, it just sucks you in until it has you in its clutches, and damn, if it isn’t hard to let go when it’s all over. R.A. Smyth is an amazing writer. I would literally read anything she wrote !!

I liked this series. The story and characters continue through all 4 books. Therefore be prepared to purchase them all for the ending.

honest review

* Characters are great! usually I'm not all in on the female characters. But Red is a bada$$ at times.

* Spice varies. rating 3 at the most. sometimes it starts and you are just about to get to the good bit, and it jumps to the next morning. Be prepared for minor detailed action. although the man on man scene was hot.

* the text at times did get repetitive. The female lead has a lot of inner monologue and I did want to scream by the forth book. example - you are watching the characters develop, but Red still finds the need to waffle on for 10 - 20mins each time about their changes. could of done with less waffle and more detailed spice. although I could just be spoilt from just having listened to Ryan rule lol

* Story was good enough to keep me engaged and finish all 4 books. But by the last 50mins, I have to admit I did start skipping.

* Narrators did a good job, but dual narration would of been best. There are 4 narrators and they all have different voices for each character. One minute the guys voices are all husky and deep, the next some are higher pitched and just don't match the persona. But the story should keep you going, with many laughs in-between.

I would recommend for someone looking for an action packed story with some spice. Good level of violence. Some swearing. Trigger warning, some of the strippers are not treated well while working. Good twists, even if you can see a few coming.
