Summary

Yoshiro escaped a career of crime with the mafia after they killed his family. For five years, he's dropped out of life. All he wants this Christmas is to be left alone. Then, Ebony and her kids accidentally crash onto his property during a snowstorm. For three years, they've been running from her husband - who's been more monster than man.

The storm picks up. They are forced to remain with Yoshiro until it dies down. And the threat of Ebony's monster remains, lurking within the shadows and threatening her safety. But Yoshiro knows all about death and blood. Her monster doesn't scare him. What has him terrified is that heartwarming feeling sparking between them. The more time Yoshiro spends with Ebony, the more she becomes a Christmas present that he's dying to open. Too bad, she's promised herself that she will never let another man in her or her children's life again.

Yet, sometimes the best Christmas presents come from a bullet. Every so often a good Christmas miracle is a cut-up body to end a nightmare. And even better, at just the right moment two lonely people can find light in their darkened souls and open their hearts to a new romance.

Contains mature themes.

First off please check your trigger warnings as this book was much darker than I was expecting, however it was absolutely amazing.

Ebony is on the the run from her crazy, abusive ex-husband with her 3 adorable children . She does any and everything to make sure her children are safe but somehow he keeps finding them.

During her latest escape from her ex, she accidentally stumbles onto the property of Yoshiro our broody Japanese mmc. There she finds temporary safety with her children while she figures out what to do next.

Due to the close proximity Ebony and Yoshiro can't help but grow feelings for each other especially with the possessive way Yoshiro wants save Ebony from her past.

Ebonys children were so freaking strong I tell you. They had been on the run for so long that they always knew what do if they were to get caught again. That broke me when I was listening , to hear that such innocent children had to go through what they did at such a you age and how Ebony was always there for them as much as she was able.

I highly recommend this book, but especially the audio book. I think Mari and Erin Michael were perfectly casted as Ebony and Yoshiro, they connected with their characters really well and fell into characters amazingly.

Really good story with some funny and heartbreaking moments, so has the whole package. The only thing that let it down for me, was the repetitiveness of some of the language used. I could literally forsee what would be said during the sex scenes. I also thought Wyatt's "ending" was anticlimactic and overly graphic. The narrators were very good and portrayed the emotion just right.

heartwarming story

I have to admit that this book sat in my library for about 8 months before I read it, and what a read it was. Extremely engaging (apart from Wyatt’s gruesome hacking) but fantastic read!

What storyline!

I’ve listened to a lot of books, usually fantasy. I stumbled across this book and didn’t really have high expectations but I was soo pleasantly surprised. The character development and intensity of the story was extremely impressive. It could possibly be triggering for some but the end made it all come together. It was well written.

Honestly one of the best books I’ve listened to
