Summary

The Rapture has come. Nine Hell Gates erupt across the world—tearing reality apart and changing it forever.

Bran’s plans are thrown into chaos by unexpected time dilation in the vault. With far less time than he anticipated, he must rally his organizations and seize the coming tide of resources.

But Earth is stirring. Demons are awakening, ready to begin their long-planned invasion, while the Clans move forward with agendas of their own.

To survive, Bran must carve his own path through the storm—and one thing is certain: the world is about to change.

awesome book absolutely loved it thought the last one wasted a bit but with this book I understand and operate the last one more btw I only just recognised the attack on titan reference you've been making since book 1 lol

love this series.

Bruce continues to build his world and show the complexities of a huge upheaval. he does a great job giving each character nuance and a voice. but the challenge of having complexity is that the plot has slowed to a crawl. book 4 and his harem is merely "potentials", and even his existing ones slip into the background. the whole book teases an addition then doesn't do much with it.

also, frustratingly, none of the threats or challenges are really removed. instead we have this odd sense of power fluctuation where at one moment Bran is amazingly strong then in another his power gets stymied by ass pulls by opponents for Plot Reasons. there are threads that seem important but then not pursued (his mother talks about dinner, inviting everyone along... but nothing happens? no mention of the dinner at all?)

it feels like this one could've done with a revision or two. the story is great but very slow. like the third book, we get a few power ups but Bran REACTS to others, his changes seemingly getting undone, or having no material impact against a threat that should be unaware of him.

ultimately it's fun and I look forward to book 5, but i yearn almost for Dragons Justice levels of harem build speed! maybe a middle ground is doable? keep it coming!

brill world building but very slow
