On May 8, 1373, 30-year-old Julian of Norwich, sick and near death, had a series of visions of Christ. In these 16 visions she learnt about God's loving nature. God in Julian's visions was not angry and wrathful. Instead, the three properties of God were presented as life, love and light, and all of His creation was good, including his servant, man. In Julian's version, Man is not to blame for his sin; instead it is something that he must experience and overcome in his spiritual journey with God.

The version of Christian theology presented in Revelations of Divine Love - the first published book in English attributed to a woman - was highly liberal and incredibly progressive for its time. The book contains some of the most profound spiritual writing ever written and remains a perennial favorite among Christians.

A wonderful translation. I started reading/studying Julian of Norwich in 2004, 15 years have gone by! I wholeheartedy recommend this translation, it flows, it sounds good and is quite beautiful. It reminds me of Carmen Acevedo Butcher's translation of The Cloud of Unknowing, a marvellous companion-piece, I dare to suggest.

The only flaw in this performance is that of the listener-I believe this so Hope is at hand…

Lover gives the meaning: Love

An interesting book, especially given the author.
It's a shame the narrator performed it as if it were a Mills and Boon novel for some reason.

If you want to know the real nature of God and haven’t been able to relate to God as portrayed by “the church”….get ready….everything you need to know has been delivered by Mother Julian.

Pure truth and wisdom from an English Mystic

I loved the text, obviously - it's a classic for good reason - but the performance really was outstanding. The narrator has a warm, enthusiastic simplicity in how she delivers the text that is very intimate and hopeful. I hope anyone wanting to find out more about Christianity will listen to this audiobook rather than the plethora of hysterical online influencers. Walk the dog listening to it, do your housework or gardening listening to it, pretend your a monk and play it to feed you spiritually while you eat. Just listen to it, it's beautiful.

As for Julian of Norwich, she was so humble that we don't even know her name - she's recorded as Julian based on the Church she was anchoress at, but unfortunately the records were destroyed during the reformation (which is why she'll never be formally canonised, if anyone was wondering.) However, no less a theologian loved her than Pope Benedict 16th. Listen to this and you'll know why. If you want to see how one soul during the 14th century understood the love of God this beautiful text and performance will bring it alive for you.
God is love, made you for love and if you trust and allow Him then through His love He will bring you home. God bless! Enjoy the book.

Truly gorgeous
