About this listen

A captivating action and adventure thriller from bestselling duo, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.

In 1695, a notorious English pirate buried his bounty in a maze of booby-trapped tunnels on an island off the coast of Maine. In three hundred years, no one has breached this cursed and rocky fortress.

Now, a treasure hunter and his high-tech, million-dollar recovery team embark on the perfect operation to unlock the labyrinth's mysteries.

First the computers fail. The then crewmen begin to die. The island has guarded its secrets for centuries, and it isn't letting them go without a fight.

Unobtainable, up until now, Pirate Treasure. The narrator is so perfect for this, he adds depth of character, atmosphere and a fab description of The Storm. I almost thought I was there too.....

Who can resist a Tale of Pirate Treasure

I’d been searching for a modern pirate story with some meat on its bones, and found exactly that with Preston & Child’s Riptide.
A gripping story, well read by Scott Brick (who I also enjoyed from Jurassic Park) and it would have been five stars if not for the over played conceit surrounding the mysterious illness suffered by those who approach the treasure. I was waiting for the protagonist (a Harvard medical graduate no less) to catch up, and several times thought to myself ‘Surely he’ll get it now?!’, only to be dumbfounded as he missed the blatant clues.
But that aside, it’s a hard to put down audiobook with a satisfying conclusion.
Will be looking for more from this trio!
