Summary

Bree Waters has escaped the town that took her magic, but claiming her power was only the beginning.

Merfolk exist at sea, and Bree has found them. Approaching the Luna pod for help defeating corruption back home was supposed to be a simple task, but their people are fighting a battle of their own. To obtain the help she needs, Bree must assist the seafolk in return.

Bree should be able to access the full range of her magic, but when her mermaid tail and siren call fail to appear, the merfolk prince is tasked with training her to wield the incredible power of her ancestors. She finds herself falling for the prince, but meanwhile can’t get the guy who reminds her of home out of her head.

Torn between the life she once knew and a new world beneath the surface, Bree must learn how to access the full extent of her mermaid magic—and decide who she will become in the process.

The tides are rising, and Bree must command the storm… or be caught in the current.

Dive into ocean depths in the second book of this upper young adult contemporary fantasy trilogy featuring mermaids, a sweet love triangle, and small town secrets. This teen novel is suitable for ages 13 and up.

This was a really fun and exciting continuation of the story.

Bree’s still figuring out her powers and where she fits, which I liked because it felt real and not instant-perfect. There’s also a bit of romance and that push-and-pull between two different paths, which kept things interesting but I do hope she chooses and doesn’t make things worse!

I thought the ending was very cool, just my kind of grand finale to take us into the third phase of the story.

Loved the world building and diving into a new area
