About this listen
What if it takes a monster to save a kingdom?
I'll never forget the sight of my little sister's lifeless body—or that my rogue magic killed her.
Sorcery like mine is punishable by death. So I live in the shadows, stealing from the corrupt to give to the needy. Maybe a little good can wash the blood from my hands.
It seems like a decent plan... until I try to help a dying noblewoman and somehow steal her soul instead.
Now her ghost is demanding I take up the quest that got her killed: exposing a conspiracy at the royal college to unleash a deadly power on the entire kingdom.
Do I want to infiltrate the cutthroat world of haughty elites? Gods, no. But if I can save the kingdom, I could save my own soul too.
So I'll pose as a refined lady, attending their classes and fancy balls, sneaking and spying like I learned on the streets. But I can't tackle this threat alone. I'll need to win the trust of the dead woman's allies: four arrogant noblemen.
Four damaged yet dangerously enticing men. No matter what they stir in my heart, I can't afford to let them get too close.
Because if they discover the monstrous things I'm capable of, saving my soul will be the least of my worries...
*Rites of Possession is a fantasy romance series full of forbidden magic, impossible love, hot damaged men, and a rebellious heroine who's so much more than she imagines. The complete series audio box set contains all four books in the series—Thief of Silver and Souls, Games of Death and Desire, Secrets of Graves and Gold and Lady of Doom and Devotion—for over 60 hours of listening enjoyment.*
Book 1
The 1st 20 chapters are background to this book but its so boring! I knew there was going to be something good coming, so I stuck it through.
And the story has got really exciting!
Ivy is a thief and a riven sorcerer and tries not to use the power.
She gets caught up in a conspiracy to destroy the city and gets involved with a ghost, who lives in Ivy's head and 4 noble men.
Ivy is starting to feel for these men and I think the men feel for Ivy and then they find out that she is riven....
Book 2
This book was really good.
Ivy has established herself within the college and her men even though most of them know her truth of her powers.
She decides she wants to infiltrate the bad sorcerers and has to go through trials to stop them from killing the king.
She has fallen in love with the 3 men and Benedict decides on a different course of action.
It was a really good story that of course ends on a cliff hanger...
Book 3
This book was not as good as the second book.
They have to start travelling as they are on the run from the King.
The Godlin has given Ivy a route to find out how to manage her magic but she doesn't stay for long, and travels to combat the bad sorcerers and save the king.
Her relationship with her men deepen and she starts to get involved with Rheaver, the daemon.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, which goes straight into the next book!
Book 4
This one is all about getting Petra recognised as Queen.
There wasn't much time for Ivy and her guys, it was all about riven sorcery, fighting the Wild ones and proving the Queen - it was good to tie up the ends.
This series was less about the RH and more about the crazy world they lived in.
The narration with Michelle Sparks and Jason Clark is much improved to having solo narration.
