About this listen

Among a band of brothers, nothing is so despised as a spy.

Ruadri Skaraven lives two lives. In one, he serves as the healer of his clan, trusted like no other with their well-being. But in the other, he serves the enigmatic druids because, secretly, he is also druid-kind. Though he’s lived with the shame for years, it is only when another healer sees into his heart that his two lives collide.

Emeline McAra doesn’t know who she is anymore. Though, at first, she tenderly nursed her fellow captives, a new violent anger grows deep in her soul. Nor can she escape her overwhelming desire for the clan’s enormous shaman. It baffles her because the one thing she has always known is that no man would ever truly want her.

But while the two healers struggle to find their way, the McAra clan lays claim to her, and Ruadri’s chieftain must turn her over or risk war.

The story is beautifully written; the descriptions are stunning, and the analogies are exquisite. The writing is tangible; your senses awaken as though you're in the very centre of every event, experiencing them alongside the characters. Hazel Hunter's incredible imagination, enchanting world-building, and powerful words will captivate you from start to end.

The storyline is riveting, alluring, and utterly engaging, loaded with adventure, suspense, betrayal, intrigue, and romance. Just when you think you've figured out how the story will play out, once again, a curveball is thrown, redirecting and obliterating all your assumptions.

The series is written so that each instalment is interwoven, and the plots proceed to the ultimate conclusion. The ending is flawless and emotional, leaving you feeling satisfied. The twist at the very end has me wanting to jump into the next book.

The main characters, Emeline, the nurse and Ruadri, the clan shaman, are genuine, with depth and vulnerabilities. Their love is destined, and their devotion and passion for one another will melt your hearts. As for their story, it's compelling, the connection is palpable with charged chemistry.

William Macleod's performance is brilliant. He channels the characters, applying distinct tones for the various personality, bringing them to life. With his delectable Scottish brogue, he sweeps you off your feet, further immersing you into the story. I can't wait to hear the rest of the series!

The combination of a phenomenal plot, incredible characters, and outstanding narration makes Immortal Highlander, Clan Skaraven series standout in the genre. I highly recommend the series.

First off, if you haven't heard or read the first two books in the series, please do so. The plot, characters and story development can be better appreciated with prior knowledge of series.

I am really enjoying this series. I loved the two main characters in this book. Ruadri is part Skaravan and part Druid, which muddied his sense of identity and adds depth to this characters. He is strong, skilled and so very vulnerable. Emeline is also strong, skilled and vulnerable though in her own right. In this they are perfectly matched and balanced. But that was never in doubt. The development of their relationship is sweet and hot and very satisfying.

But, perhaps the more interesting part of this story is the larger plot surrounding the Skaraven, the mad druids and their immortal army. There are new developments, new allies and new enemies. The story just keeps getting better!

William MacLeod has a deliciously deep narrative voice that is a real pleasure to listen to. Ahh! To have that voice whisper sweet nothings in my ear (swoon-worthy!!)

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
