Summary

The price for saving the world is the right to rule it.

After saving a faraway world, Lyn Rivers was cast back to Earth. Wanting the admiration, prestige, and glory of saving that world, she forced her way back.

But she was forgotten, and someone else claimed credit for her deeds.

Now, with the power of a deity of destruction, she desires nothing more than to claim her place in history. To do that she will conquer dungeons, make alliances, destroy kingdoms, and build an empire.

After all, why ruin the world when you can bend it to your will?

The story and world building are extremely well written. There are a few storylines that were very rapidly covered that could have had a little longer investment, several big things seemed to be mentioned and then moved on before you got a chance to absorb the information. However there are still more books to build up on some of these side stories which adds to the intrigue just a little bit more, and I cannot wait to listen to the next book. Even with the flaw of storylines. I would give the story a 4.5/5.

The voice acting is well done, my only issue is the pace at which it is read. There is plenty of emotion in the performance, the voices are well covered however, at times, the reading seems rushed which ruins the moment. If the reading pace was a little slower at times it would be rather easy to bump up the score and enjoy the story that little bit more.

Overall 4/5, a much recommended read/listen.

Intriguing and beguiling.

I don’t think I’ve listened or read a fantasy story which mostly revolves around trauma and dealing with it (arguably in very unhealthy ways). Especially an isekai styled one, not counting „he who fights with monsters” as it only transitions to it partly. I think the stories of transitions to another worlds lack the reality of situations the characters are placed in. In this story characters are very flawed, as fictional teenagers and as grown heroes. The hyperbolic presentation of their personalities and flaws is well written and explained in the story, which is new to me. Some of course are irredeemable psychopaths, but most are just flawed people who went through traumatic experiences. There is no one in this story that behaviours are inexplainable by their circumstances or psychopathy. Over all it’s a well written story with characters that one can empathise with.

Honestly great
