About this listen

Calvin:

I’m out searching for my drunk of a dad in the middle of the night. The last thing I expect to find is a hot stranger on my property with a broken-down car. Raelynn promises to be out of my hair by morning. I hate drama and drama is Raelynn’s middle name. So why am I so desperate to keep her by my side?

The more she tries to run from us, the more I want to chase after her.

I should let her go. Raelynn is beautiful and kind. I am damaged. Far too ruined to give her what she needs.

And yet I want to run away with her.

Raelynn:

Calvin Greyson is so handsome it hurts. And far too charming for his own good. When I run away from my violent ex-fiancé, Calvin comes to my aid. I am determined to get out of his hair as quickly as possible. Calvin hates drama and with an ex hounding at my heels, I have nothing but drama. Running away from my problems is nothing new. It is my specialty. But when Calvin offers me a place to stay, my heart wants to run away from me.

Can I really take a chance and run away with this cowboy?

My heart says yes.

But my mind says run.

Run Away With Me is a wild blending of worlds. Raelynn is brilliant with computers but lacks self esteem and is blind to the fact that her fiancé is mentally, emotionally, and physically abusing her. Her instinct to leave him is spot on, but she has this fascinating perception that she cannot ask anyone for help. Raised by equally terrible adoptive parents who treat her less than, it’s no surprise she doesn’t understand her own value, but it’s so heartbreaking to listen to and witness. Her random encounter with Calvin is a bit crazy and also the best thing that could have ever happened to her. Calvin is caring, observant, determined, and strong. Grumpy as all get out and dealing with his own set of emotional and familial challenges, he gives Raelynn a port in her crazy storm, sees her for who she is, and stands beside her and in front of her as needed. He shows her what family looks like and accepts her as she is. Though they come from opposite worlds, their connection is undeniable, and as the antics unfold I laughed, cried, yelled at the stupidity, and ultimately was hoping for their HEA. The narrator was wonderful and performing Raelynn’s character! It was hard to distinguish which characters were talking sometimes, as there were no different voices or inflections utilized by the narrator to differentiate between people. However, the emotions and actions poured out of the speakers, keeping me engaged with the plot until the very end.

The storyline of this audiobook is fine, however due to the narrator, a woman who read for both Calvin and Raelynn, in the same tone, I personally found it difficult to fully engage with the story. It would definately have been better to have someone else to read Calvin’s part, especially since they are of very different origins.
I listened in stops and starts, due to the above.
The rating would’ve been higher had it been on kindle.

Instant attraction.

I didn't enjoy this story. I found the single narrator unappealing.
The FMC was too wishy washy. And the characters sounded a lot older than they were meant to be.
