About this listen

In a post-apocalyptic America, Deaver Teague makes a living salvaging things left behind from before the war. When he hears some truck drivers talking about a hidden cache of gold in a Mormon temple in flooded Salt Lake City, he enlists some friends to look for it.

This story is included in Orson Scott Card's collection The Folk of the Fringe.

I don't know what I expected. After Ender's game and Alvin Maker and some other excellent stories, I thought I would like pretty much anything by this author. And this is just meh. Not because there are no spaceships or magic, but because there is a secret and the expectation, and some tension.. But it just doesn't grow into anything much, and resolves into nothing.

Anticlimactic

If you are a Mormon, you might find this an interesting read. If you are anyone else, do not bother. After the fall of man, some people want to go diving for the pirate / Mormon gold. Ooo RRRR. They go diving and it ends. Completely forgettable. It is the SF version of elevator music.

A story about tedious people.
