About this listen
London, 1786. Lord Henri-Antoine has returned from the Grand Tour to a life of privilege and excess. A vast inheritance allows him every indulgence, free from responsibility. Yet, Henri-Antoine maintains a well-ordered existence, going to great lengths to conceal an affliction few understand and many fear.
Miss Lisa Crisp is a penniless orphan who relies on the charity of relatives to keep her from the poorhouse. Intelligent and unflappable, Lisa will not allow poverty to define her. She leads a useful life working among the sick poor.
Under startling circumstances, Henri-Antoine and Lisa meet. There is instant attraction. When they find themselves attending the same wedding in the country, Henri-Antoine offers Lisa a scandalous proposition, one she should refuse but yearns to accept. Following her heart could ruin them both.
A standalone romantic adventure set against the backdrop of Treat, ancestral home of the dukes of Roxton. Satyr's Son will delight fans of the series with cameos by many beloved characters, while new listeners will discover the myriad pleasures and glittering aristocratic world of the Roxton family through the fresh eyes of newcomer Lisa Crisp. Satyr's Son is a Cinderella story with a heartwarming happily ever after.

Where does Satyr's Son: A Georgian Historical Romance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Anything written by either Lucinda Brant or Stella Riley and read by the amazingly talented Alex Wyndham is always something to look forward to. Satyr's Son, the last (boo!) in the Roxton series, is wonderful. My favourite will always be Noble Satyr, as I just adored the Duke and Antonia's story, but each subsequent book only adds to the series. I enjoyed Henri-Antoine's story very much with the delightful Lisa Crisp. What was one of the most memorable moments of Satyr's Son: A Georgian Historical Romance?
I loved the scene in the mausoleum, which sounds ghoulish, but if you read the series, you would know why it isn't. M'Le Duc is forever threaded through the series, and it was fitting that he should be included in the final chapter. Beautifully crafted by Ms Brant, as always.Which character – as performed by Alex Wyndham – was your favourite?
Henri-Antoine. His mellifluous voice is just gorgeous. Alex W is the best at his craft.Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I loved the book. I've adored all the books and being a part of the Roxton's lives. A marvellous series, my all time favourite. I have listened to them all on many occasions, and will continue to do so. They make a dull old day seem so much brighter.Any additional comments?
If you haven't read any of the Roxton books, you are in for such a treat - lucky you ! Read the books sequentially to gain the best experience, then read the 2 books with the letters that belong to the series. A magical, wonderful, amazing read or if you have the luxury of listening to the audio books, then settle in to hear the voice of the ultimate narrator, Alex Wyndham. Perfect.Another triumph !

A new insight into the life of the ever growing Roxton ducal family with three generations gathering at Treat to celebrate the wedding of Lady Mary’s daughter, Teddy’s to her cousin Jack Cavendish. You will meet the well-known and beloved protagonists from the previous Roxton books and find out what has happened to them during the nine years that passed since the fourth book, Proud Mary’s events.
However, this is the fifth Duke of Roxton’s second son, Lord Henri-Antoine’s story, his quest for happiness. Lucinda Brant created a complex character that you will love for his tenderness and generosity, for his determination of using his wealth to advance the science of medicine, you will want to console in his moments of vulnerability, however odiously he behaves, but other times you will hate for his rude, arrogant and selfish behaviour. The other protagonist, Lisa Crisp, though with a very different social status and financial situation than the previous main female characters, subscribes to the same line of self-conscious, determined ladies, ready to sacrifice everything for her two loves: Henri-Antoine and helping to ease the misery of the poor.
This new book of the Roxton family saga is an interesting twist in the family members’ love stories. The main characters of the previous books married for love but the partner was usually someone from a noble family, or possessed a considerable wealth, or acquired a title. In this case the two protagonists belong to two completely different worlds, their social status and their wealth putting them to the two extremities of the social ladder. Can love triumph and will such a marriage be accepted by the members of the Roxton family? I do not want to spoil the listeners’ joy in finding out the result. For me, it was hard to put down the audiobook, so I finished it in less than 48 hours.
Lucinda Brant is a master in recreating the Georgian era in her books by detailed but never boring descriptions of the environment, buildings, gardens, dresses, customs and habits. I love the way she inserts here and there and adjective, a descriptive phrase built in the flow of the happenings.
Alex Wyndham has been an excellent choice of voice for the series. He portrays the characters with different voices suiting their age, origins and character. His voice is rich and smooth, as “hot chocolate slides down your throat”, just as Lord Henri-Antoine’s voice is described in the book.
This is a highly enjoyable performance from the Brant - Wyndham team, a must listen for all fans of Georgian historical romance.
A delightful story with awesome narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this audiobook because not only is it a wonderful story, but the narration is superb. What was one of the most memorable moments of Satyr's Son: A Georgian Historical Romance?
I can't go into detail about any of the memorable moments of the story because they would be huge spoilers. Suffice to say that there are many moments in this story when I have been emotionally moved and have realised that this has to be one of Lucinda Brants best novels.Have you listened to any of Alex Wyndham’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Yes, I have listened to other Alex Wyndham performances, mostly other Lucinda Brant novels. In each one he brings the story and it's characters to life and I cannot fault him. I have listened to his narration of one other author's novels and even though the quality of his narration never falters, there is just something about Lucinda Brant's characters and Alec's voice that meld perfectly. He becomes every one of Lucinda's characters, it's a perfect fit.Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would love to have listened to this book in one sitting. Sadly it was a little long for that to be possible. I managed it in 3 sittings though. I had already read the book, but despite that fact, listening to Alec's narration made the book like new again.Any additional comments?
Lucinda writes romantic novels unlike any other and when Alex narrates them he becomes each and every character he portrays. He brings them to life, he makes them our friends, family and even enemies. The emotion he can put forth is almost palpable, you just want to put your arms out and hold the character that is upset at the time, or dance a jig if the character is happy etc, you get the idea. I even forget that it is just one man narrating all the characters! I can't listen to any other narrator without comparing them to Alex, and no matter how good they may be, they can never reach Alex's gold standard! Henri Antoine the hero of this story is said to have a voice as smooth as chocolate, a description that is often given to Alex Wyndham's narrative voice, and a more apt description you could not have.Ultimate Perfection
