About this listen
After a traumatizing event and rough sophomore year, Max Kuemper does his best to keep his head down and not draw attention to himself.
School and hockey are the only two things he can handle; it's all he can do to keep himself afloat. He wants to forget about what happened to him and bring the secret to his grave.
Confident and flirty Luke Kelly likes to play the field—dating as well as baseball. When he meets Max during a night shift at work, he takes an instant liking to him despite the other man's reserved exterior and shy personality.
But secrets have a way of coming to light, and both Max and Luke will have to come to terms with what that means for their relationship.
Includes a bonus prologue.

This was so good. I didn’t think I would like this one as much as book 1, and while I did have some issues with how Luke found out about Max’s assault & the (once again) very abrupt ending with no epilogue, my god were these characters written so beautifully & perfectly for each other.
I already have book 3 on audio ready to go, but I know book 4 about Marcos is gonna crush me.
The narration by both Javi Wilder and Liam DiCosimo perfectly matched each character as well.
such a moving & important story

Max has closed himself off after what happened, and honestly, why can’t we blame him, not only for sexual relationships but for all kinds of relationships? My heart went out to Max, and I hope the hippie who came into his life would handle this man with care.
Luke is just your typical baseball jock, enjoying life and having fun along the way. Intrigued by Max and finding some form of connection, the two of them together is just so sweet and cute. Luke is an amazing person who takes care of Max in every way possible. I was not mad at how he found out and equally not mad that he didn’t tell Max he knew. I can understand why Max thought of it as a betrayal and so glad he had a coach to set him right.
Even though tough topics were covered, there were a lot of love and fun moments within the book. I absolutely loved it, with a great ending to the story which was destroyed by that last ending chapter. IYKYK
Have to say when I saw the narrators I knew I’d love the story more.
Tragedy handled with care
