About this listen

Your presence is requested at romantic Twill Castle for the wedding of Miss Clio Whitmore and . . . and . . . ?

After eight years of waiting for Piers Brandon, the wandering Marquess of Granville, to set a wedding date, Clio Whitmore has had enough. She's inherited a castle, scraped together some pride, and made plans to break her engagement.

Not if Rafe Brandon can help it. A ruthless prizefighter and notorious rake, Rafe is determined that Clio will marry his brother—even if he has to plan the dratted wedding himself.

So how does a hardened fighter cure a reluctant bride's cold feet?

  • He starts with flowers. Ladies can't have too many flowers. Or harps. Or cakes.
  • He lets her know she'll make a beautiful, desirable bride— and tries not to picture her as his.
  • He doesn't kiss her.
  • If he kisses her, he definitely doesn't kiss her again.
  • When all else fails, he puts her in a stunning gown and vows not to be nearby when the gown comes off.
  • And no matter what—he doesn't fall in disastrous, hopeless love with the one woman he can never call his own.

The book so far is good. But I HATE the narration, the cadence, it’s so monotonous! I’ll just stick to the book, thanks!

Hard pass on the narration

The beginning was a bit boring, all the was was planning the wedding for more than half the book, but then half way through it got a bit better, and towards the end even better.
The narrator was very good. I like Carmen Rose, she's one of my few favourite female narrators.

it was ok

The story was very slow moving and repetitive. Other Tessa Dare books I've read are much better in plot.

The plot sounded promising and I was so much looking forward to it -
Especially as I found that the book is well narrated….

Unfortunately I was quickly bored as I found the author more interested in the details what happens in the outhouse or bedroom than the storyline-
Also I found the book in itself repetitive…

I listened from start to finish - but won’t bother with any further reading in this series ..

I found the book boring ….

Talk about incestuous, The Hero is protecting his brother's bride. However he is "too impulsive and fighter," so can have carnal relationship with her. In fact he is full of self-pity and his excuses of turning his back on his family are purile. He has been running the estate, looking after his brother's dog since his father died. He is a brute a fighter with a "rake's reputation," so not be trusted
The Heroine has been waiting for 8 years to be married, but has decided to retire from society, to start a brewery.
There is plenty of sex in this fairy tale, lots of stupid secondary characters. Fast forwarding was the only way to survive this rubbish.
