Tucholsky liefert seinem Verleger Ernst Rowohlt „wie bestellt" eine Sommergeschichte, in wundervoller Natur rund um das Schloß Gripsholm in Schweden. Rowohlt, der etwas Leichtes zum Lesen und Verschenken wollte, bekommt hier allerdings in einer sehr netten Verpackung gleich noch beißende Gesellschaftskritik und eine eher unkonventionelle Liebesgeschichte - alles Kino im Kopf vom Feinsten.
