Let down by choice of narrator, struggled through with what was otherwise an engaging and informative listen.

If you can ignore the appalling pronunciation then stick with it and enjoy the ride.

Illiterate narrator

A good book spoiled by a lazy narrator who seemed not to know how to pronounce place names, even the most simple. Loch Lomond and Loch Leven!

Insulting narration

OMG! This is a work of excellent content that is absolutely ruined by the dogshit narrator who sounds like an Eton schoolboy on FM radio after his sixth cup of coffee!
More importantly, he is incompetent at pronouncing even the simplest of Scottish place names. I gave up after 2hrs of this purgatory.
It is a no-brainer that this book should be narrated by a native Scot! Shame on you Audible.
Alba gu brath!

Aaaarrgghh!

It was very irritating to listen to this horrendous narration in which zero attempt seems to have been made to pronounce a single Scottish word or name, of either place or person, remotely accurately. Why a native Scottish narrator wasn't used is an inexplicable mystery. It's a shame, really, as the content of the book is actually very good in spite of being a whistle-stop tour of Scottish history, rather than anything in-depth, but that is as expected for a book designed to offer the reader a brief overview.

Horrendous narration!
