Summary
Stop, Look, Listen with your heart?
Written by singer songwriter Vicky Nolan, Scrapbook of an Unfound Songstress is a unique true story about female empowerment, musical talent and self-discovery. This book will be great for fans of Anna Todd, Taylor Swift and the new generation of YA. You will love listening to Vicky and her remarkable story: Imagine, you're a 15-year-old dreaming of becoming a pop star, and then one day you get your lucky break - you get a record deal with Polydor records - they send you to Copenhagen to make pop music - to make you a pop star.
Your future is looking brighter than ever, or you thought so – until the High Court writ hits your door mat! – you split with your management and they have decided to sue you, break you, destroy you. No, this isn’t the promised dream, this is a nightmare, this wasn't suppose to happen! and all while still at school at the sweet age of sixteen. An intriguing Journey The scrapbook of stories takes you on a whirlwind of personal experiences.
Listen to Hollywood, London town, the glamour and the music, the drama of the court and trial, and everything in between. Everything is at stake. How does the trial end? We always talk about 'making it' and fulfilling your dreams. The question is, what if you don't? What happens next?
Ultimately this book speaks about life and family; it's hopes and disappointments, It's ups and downs. Scrapbook of an Unfound Songstress is in some way a story that speaks to us all, because in the end, the best stories are always true.

Vicky's resilience and positivity is a credit to the incredible support network around her and it amazed me how level headed and strong she remained in the face of such enormous financial pressure and the potential dream crushing circumstances that could have ended her career before it started. She really did stare down the giant. I think Vicky is a brilliant example of female empowerment and this is why financial autonomy and agency is so important for everyone but especially young women. I can see why so many people are so proud of her.
Vicky kindly sent me this audio in exchange for my honest thoughts and I would just like to say its been an honour to get to know her through this scrapbook, and I would love to hear a follow up in a few years with further reflections and perhaps some interviews from her family. I know this won't be the last we see of Vicky Nolan.

Scrapbook of an Unfound Songstress is an autobiography of Vicky Nolan’s experiences trying to make it famous as a pop star.
The book was an interesting read and I was fascinated to read just how difficult and brutal the music industry can be.
Although I only had a digital copy of the book and not a physical copy, I liked the way the book was written like a scrapbook.
The only part I struggled with was the way in which the book was organised. Sometimes it was a little difficult to follow as an outsider, as it wasn’t in chronological order and as such, felt a little disjointed.
But other than that, I enjoyed this book and I was glad to hear that Vicky finally found what was important to her.

The audiobook is read by Vicky herself which brings a personalised feel like your friend is telling you a story. It flicks between times and 1st and 3rd person but works well. Vicky also included lyrics from her songs dispersed throughout which added another level.
I have seen that the physical copy actually looks like a scrapbook of Vicky’s thoughts which would be amazing to see. A different way to read a memoir but feels the most Vicky way.
Beautiful memoir
