Summary

A veteran hockey player and a rookie can't get away from each other—or their own desires—in this sexy, heartfelt opposites-attract hockey romance.

Olly Järvinen has a long way to go. He's got a fresh start playing for a new team, but getting his hockey career back on track is going to take more than a change of scenery. He's got to shut his past out and focus. On the game, not on his rookie roommate and his annoyingly sunny disposition—and annoyingly distracting good looks.

All Benji Bryzinski ever wanted was to play in the big leagues, and he's not going to waste one single second of his rookie season. Yoga, kale smoothies, and guided meditation help keep his head in the game. But his roommate keeps knocking him off track. Maybe it's just that Olly is a grumpy bastard. Or maybe it's something else, something Benji doesn't have a name for yet.

Olly and Benji spend all their time together—on the ice, in the locker room, in their apartment—and ignoring their unspoken feelings isn't making them go away. Acting on attraction is one thing, but turning a season's fling into forever would mean facing the past—and redefining the future.

Contains mature themes.

I came across this whilst browsing audio plus and I am glad I did. I tend to only listen to audio books, when I am out and about, but I found myself coming home and carrying on listening to it.
It had all the tropes I like and I was invested in Olly and Benji's relationship.
This was the ultimate slow burn as they navigated their relationship from strangers.
Good narration that helped tell a story I will revisit.

Invested in the story

I’m new to this type of romance and I enjoyed the story with the right amount of spice for me. I look forward to the next book.

Great story

This is going to be the worst review ive given not because the book was bad but because I dont know how to review it..because i loved the book i just cant tell you why..
I got it free on plus and I started it at work 2 days ago and firstly I should say this is a long book for me, I dont normally commit to 11hours when its a 'new to me' author and 'new to me' narrators..but I was feeling reckless..
and it was slow, yet another thing im not normally great with, I like a little something to get me going but when I say slow burn I mean 🦥 and again id normally have put it down 5 hours in
But... I couldn't turn it off, i cant rave about the narration because 1 was slow and a bit stilted, but it was perfect for the characters, (and I keep saying but) because there was something about the book that I really enjoyed, I just dont know what it was, the characters were well written, their back stories were interesting and their dynamics worked really well, i loved all the side characters and i will be downloading the next in the series, but I still dont know why 🤣🤣 this a great book without knowing its a great book.. or was it not and I just got lost for 2days..

*Ive repeated my review on other sites

A great book, well worth a listen (although one of the narrators is a bit stilted when voicing Oli so I dropped a star on the narration). Characters that you become invested in and a storyline that keeps you listening from start to finish.

Well worth a listen

4.5 stars. Audiobook - great narration, although I kept getting thrown off by one narrator speaking much slower than the other (purely a me thing obviously). The MCs were just the right amount of complicated and the hurt/comfort and mental health struggles felt very realistic.

very good
