I was glad of a gentle read after having had a number of heavy books. This one is gentle in the extreme and only just the right side of that. However the ridiculous ending with the most astonishing failure to grasp even basic concepts of law including inappropriate charges followed by guilty pleas to all followed by discussion about how one charge was likely to fail followed by no appreciation that in those circumstances the second then would HAVE to fail, followed by discussion of the trial to come despite the guilty pleas (!) followed by prospect of charges being ‘dropped’ …. Yes in that order pushed me over the limit. Save that there was only about 30 minutes to go I’d have given up. Not sure if I am mainly sad or mad. Not sure if I could stomach another in the series.
