About this listen

She'll uncover the shocking secrets of her past in paradise....

Sent away to convent school at the age of six, Irini McGuire has never really known her celebrated archaeologist mother, Bridget, who lives on the paradise island of Santorini. So, when Irini receives news that Bridget has been injured at a dig and is in coma she knows it is time to return to the island of her birth.

Discovering her mother's notes, and driven by rumours that her mother's injury was no accident, Irini starts to reveal the dark secrets behind her family's separation.

Can she unearth the truth about her parents and her past before it is too late?

Having been to both Santorini and Crete myself and been on an archaeological dig as a student I loved the descriptions and it brought the past to life for me.

Loved the story but kept at times losing interest when talking about the "The Queen" and some of the history. But loved the story and the narrator and the setting of the story

Really good listen. Narration and story telling brilliant, a book that I couldn’t stop listening too! Such a good story for many reasons and beautifully written! Loved it! Well done to all involved.

So much potential around the theme, and very well written, but very soon falls into cliches and loses credibility.

Started very well but soon became too cheesy
