For some reason I had to start the story several times as I lost the plot. It’s not down to the story or the author though, just some stories need a full attention especially when listening to an audiobook. It took a while to unravel and identify the various players and divide the crop from the fruit. I tended to mix up some of the people involved and had to build up their picture and backstory in my head before I could really enjoy all the various characters and stories. Hard work but rewarding. It can get boring if explanations are always provided and take away from the joy of guessing and sleuthing. In the end, despite all theories built up, it still was as expected but so surprising. It must be very challenging to keep the story going for the author, without confusing the reader too much. But as usual the pieces came together in the end and the head scratching finally ended. For sure there will be more though as each story solved opens the door for a new one.

Another cracking addition to the DI Nikki Galena series , this series just gets better and better. However, the narrator was dreadful and I wouldn’t have listened if it wasn’t for the storyline being so good !!

I was surprised after listening to so many in the series that the narrator changed the voice of Nikki in at the beginning to almost posh! I kind of got used to it and then the twang came back into her voice as the book progressed, a bit off putting but the story was very good and I overall enjoyed it

listened in a day and apart from a bit of repetition. it was well written and performed. The story held interest and was not gruesome as some are.
