About this listen

Perfect for fans of Richard Coles, Fiona Leitch and Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, introducing a cosy crime series set in the gardening world featuring an unlikely amateur sleuth and her loveable dog.

Steph Williams has arrived at the wealthy gated community of Beaulieu Heights ready to start her new position as head gardener. Surrounded by mansions and acres of land, it's worlds apart from the life she knows, but she's determined to give it her best shot.

If she happens to accidentally overhear private conversations while trimming the bushes, or is refused access to a locked shed, she knows not to question it - after all, gardeners should be seen and not heard.

Until notes start turning up, threatening to reveal the deepest secrets of the residents. Suddenly Steph finds herself the prime suspect, and now she must leave the shelter of the gardens behind to clear her name and save her job.

The seeds of suspicion have been planted, but the case is turning out to be no bed of roses. And when the investigation puts her life at risk, Steph is up against the clock to weed out the real culprit before it's too late...

such a lovely cosy mystery with a great story line that has lots of twists and turns . I purchased all the books thus far in this series i truly hope there are many more to come. I would also like to add that this was superbly read by the narrator. Highly recommend.

I'm a big fan of murder mysteries and I loved this book! I'd highly recommend it. The author seems to enjoy dropping hints of intrigue which kept me engaged and wondering. I also loved Mouse - who is a dog :) The narrator is very good too. I'm off to buy book 2.

A must read!

EDIT 6 Sept 25: Book 2 turned up as an option today and Audible even emailed it as a suggestion. I’m now happily listening.

Before I embarked on a series, I checked that other books were available and was delighted to see books 1-3 there, book 3 published this month. But after finishing book 1, I went to purchase book 2 and it has disappeared from the listing. So disappointing and wildly frustrating. If I cancel my subscription (member since 2008) BS like this will be why.

Seeds of Murder is engaging because it manages to be cosy without being bland. I’m interested in the gardener sleuth, Steph, and her adorable dog. (Spoiler: the dog is alive and well at the end of the novel.) The setting is interesting, I enjoyed the gardens and the suspects are all entitled and arrogant but still human beings.

The reader is great, I enjoyed her voice and she kept the characters clear without giving everyone a dubious accent.

I hope I get a chance to listen to Shoots of Murder sometime. The author is already at work on book 4.

A great start to a cosy series
