About this listen

Rosamunde Pilcher's major best seller, also a successful TV film, now available in unabridged audio download.

As spring comes to Scotland and the hills burst into life, a dance is planned for September. The invitations summon home the group of people Violet Aird has cared for most in her long life. The oldest, strongest and wisest of them all, she sees Alexa, her vulnerable granddaughter, find love for the first time while the decision to send her little grandson away to school is driving parents Edmund and Virginia even further apart.

Far from them all is Pandora, the glamorous, exciting girl who ran away 20 years before. All will converge on Scotland this September, bringing their stories with them.

Rosamunde never fails to entertain, but I have never heard such excruciating attempts at Scottish accents. Totally cringe-worthy.

I really enjoyed listening to this audio I liked the narrator and the story, I though the ending the last 35mins went on too long and did get boring otherwise it was a good listen.

This book and Rosamunde Pilcher’s Winter Soltice are my two favourite reads. Jilly Bond read it brilliantly and the voice of Lottie sent shivers down my back.

A lovely book

Great story, brilliant narrator - couldn’t stop listening, and was so sad when it ended.
I loved it!

Wonderful!

I almost gave up listening to this after 10 minutes because Jilly Bonds narration is truly dreadful. Her Scottish accent is so bad it’s almost comic but the real problem is that throughout the book she constantly sounds amused. Regardless of the content of conversation her tone is bubbling laughter. I learnt to tolerate this and persevered although it grated on my nerves throughout. So, well done to Rosamund Pilcher for a wonderful story but I will listen to no more by the same narrator.

Dreadful narration spoiled a good story
