About this listen

IN THE UNDERGROUND FAE REALM, ONLY THE STRONGEST AND MOST RUTHLESS HAVE POWER - BUT A YOUNG HUMAN WOMAN FORCED INTO A LIFE OF SERVITUDE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE EVERYTHING

'A darkly enchanting page-turner laden with sensuality and intrigue' THEA GUANZON

****

Kenna Heron is a servant in the cruel underground faerie kingdom of Mistei. There she must help her mistress undertake six deadly trials, one for each branch of magic: Fire, Earth, Light, Void, Illusion, and Blood. If Kenna succeeds, her mistress will gain immortality and become the heir to Earth House. Fail, and they both die.

With only a sentient dagger of mysterious origins, Kenna must face monsters, magic, and harrowing tests . . . But worse dangers wait underground, and soon Kenna gets caught up in a rebellion against the sadistic faerie king. When her feelings for the rebellion's leader turn passionate, Kenna must decide if she's willing to risk her life for a better world and a chance at happiness.

Surviving the trials will take cunning, courage, and an iron will . . . but even that may not be enough.

This book has consumed my entire being over the last few days. My ears hurt from living in headphones at every spare moment I have, just trying to squeeze one more chapter in!

The story gripped me from the beginning, and I loved every second of it. From the intense character development, to each pang of anxiety or excitement I felt for Kenna as she navigated her way through life. I would highly recommend!!

This is the forth book I've read by this author. I only discovered her work a few weeks back, but her writing is just so easy to read and I've truly fell in love with her stories! I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next 🤩

This is the book I’ve been searching for. It gave me the same feeling of when I first got into fantasy many years ago. Would absolutely recommend

Amazing story and narration

Wow! I loved this book. Our FMC Kenna is awesome, the Trials were well done, the faeries are as they should be, scheming, cruel and cunning.

Even though this was more fantasy than romantasy, the story was perfect. The ending was not surprising, rather it went as I hoped. It's great that I can jump straight to part two.

Perfect!

You had me at fae, trials, and morally grey men. Servant of Earth delivered all the tropes I live for, with a healthy dose of tension, betrayal, and questionable choices along the way.

Kenna is a lowly human servant thrown into six magical trials alongside her new lady, and it goes about as well as you’d expect (read: terrifyingly, dramatically, and so entertaining). She’s strong when it counts, but also makes some deeply questionable choices that had me screaming “girl, NO” more than once.

Now let’s talk love interests… Drusten? I’ve never trusted a man less. Gives major “suspiciously charming manipulator with a sketchy agenda” energy. 🚩
But Kallen, our shadow-drenched Void Prince? Oh. My. Nightmares. The tall, dark, and literally void man who shows up, oozes menace and mystery, and then dips? Sir, come back. I’m hoping book 2 gives us a lot more him 🥵

The trials? Deadly and delicious. The world? Dark, magical, and full of vibes. And the found family? I will protect Aiden and Lara at all costs, thanks. I do wish Sarah came up with a better name than “the Nasties” though, as it’s really giving primary school.

Was it predictable at times? Yes. Did I care? Not one bit. Because the plot delivered, and even when I guessed where it was going, how it got there was always a surprise.

Finally that ending? Drama, betrayal, magic, everything I want from a fantasy finale. Now I’m perched on the edge of my seat waiting to see Kenna go full “vengeful heroine with her blood thirsty knife and nothing to lose” mode in book 2.
