Well read, the political manoeuvres are interesting and well thought out but the romance aspect is woefully written. Like some sort of teenage romance written by a bunch of teenage girls at a sleepover who have just read their mums Mills and Boon. It was difficult to get through because of this. Trying to pass off a giant white skinned ginger haired barbarians child as that of a below average height, dark haired, dark skinned man's child just doesn't fit. A poor showing for Raymond E Feist, I'm not familiar with Janny Wurts other works so I can't compare that.
