London 1900 and Sherlock Holmes finds himself investigating a string of murders that have one common thread -- each of them recalls one of his earlier cases. Has that great mind finally cracked - Watson wonders - and how is all this connected to Britain's latest secret weapon and the doings of the enigmatic Graf von Bork and the mysterious Society for Anglo-German Solidarity?©1997 Barry Day (P)2006 One Voice Recordings Historical Mystery Fiction Sherlock Holmes Detective Murder Mystery

Editor reviews

In Sherlock Holmes and the Copycat Murders, grandfatherly British narrator David Ian Davies ably performs the role of the iconic fictional detective and his famous partner, Dr. Watson, and deftly transports the listener back in time to the foggy streets of turn-of-the-century London. There, a series of gruesome murders with a similar modus operandi all attempt to frame none other than Holmes himself!

It is yet another riddle-wrapped-within-an-enigma case for our Sherlock to somehow crack and solve. But this time, it’s personal.

Critic reviews

"The most incredible one-person audio you have heard. Has to be heard to be believed. David Ian Davies creates theatre in a book." (Charles Prepolec, one of the most respected Sherlockians)

Good story and narrator tries hard, his voices are fun but his disjointed reading lets him down

Good story but

Watson could never be that stupid well performed though well worth a listen.may annoy some Sherlock Holmes fans.

not the best but definitely not the worst

I think the story was OK, but the breathless haste of the reader made it incredibly hard to follow.

The poor pronunciation - bizarrely this stood out from the general gabble - was really something which should have been caught in production. It's "Requiescat in pah-kay" for heaven's sake

Speaking as someone who reads bedtime stories and "does the voices" I accept that it can be hard when there are so many characters, so here's a hint... outside of the lead characters the only requirement is that other characters don't sound exactly the same as it makes the scene confusing. Also if you can't do accents then don't try.

I loved the story and the narrator had a very engaging style. I highly recommend it.

wonderful

I enjoyed the book and felt the reader sounded perfect as Watson. However there were many mispronunciations of foreign (usually French ) phrases and even some English words.

Fun but ....
