Some of the relationships no longer feel real. I get that it’s a fantasy story but it takes me out of the experience when the focus becomes being a bad dad while trying to get into yet another girls pants. It feels very much like character whiplash; which is a shame since I enjoyed this series.

Otherwise it’s a pretty bog standard chosen one book and if you’re in the mood for one and if you are ok with the increase in sex scenes then it’s a fine book. It’s not nearly on the same level as the first one in the series however.
