I suggest this is best listened to in sections not all at once. It is action packed, galaxy and universe hopping, characters that can do wrong, politics, battles and much much more.

A great series

Weak in every way. Terrible world-building, shallow species, unlikable 1 dimensional characters. Everything is solved with a bigger gun, or pure luck.
Even the planets and systems have unoriginal names. I forget the prison one, something like Hades. The defensive one they fall back to is Bastion. There's an avian species called Wingers and an aquatic species called Fins. There's a dumb brute species that can somehow still fly and maintain space ships and weapons called simply Gok. The main villains are an evil cold-blooded lizard people. There's a tech species that are just described as small, grey and have throat sacks.
I often hear "show, don't tell" as a guide for good writing. You describe a scene and let the reader decide how they feel or what they think happened.
At every step this book tells and rarely shows anything.
I started the second batch of stories and couldn't take any more when the (39-year-old who just slept with a 21-year-old because everyone says he's charming and handsomenand all the young women want him) Main Character Mr Sherif lifted some random sleeping farmer from the ground by the arms and threw him across a field into a fence, then slapped him until he woke up.
I honestly do not understand why there are so many good reviews for this or how it got 10 books, though I can certainly see why they bundled it as a single book.

shallow, unbelievable, immature

Went tru the first book in hyperdrive....
Engaging story. Good variation in space combat and close quarters combat. Interesting characters, alien species and factions.
Pleasant voice to listen to.
Can recommend if this rocks your boat, ehm I mean spaceship 😉

Interesting story and characters

Got over half way through before finally giving up. The endless battles became too tedious. Had it been condensed into five books it might have been a winner. Just couldn't do it.

Couldn't go the distance
