The perfect boyfriend...or the perfect liar? Should Have Known Better is the tense new psychological thriller by A J McDine.

It’s the moment single-mum Kate has been dreading. With her only daughter, Chloe, about to leave home, she’s terrified by the prospect of an empty nest. That is until she meets charming lawyer Adam. He could be the perfect catch - if it wasn’t for his clingy son.

Because Ben has a crush on Chloe. A crush that is fast becoming an obsession. Flattered by the attention, Chloe is happy to string him along - for now at least. But Kate can see the danger signs, even if her daughter can't. And when Chloe’s life begins spiralling out of control, Kate must make a choice - trust her instincts or lose her daughter forever....

Enjoyable read with good characters. It did get a bit predictable, who the perpetrator was and a little far-fetched at the end, but nevertheless I enjoyed it. The narrator was excellent.

Good story

I enjoyed this book. I kept waiting for some sort of twist that never came, and the completely idiotic mother did my head in. That women needs her kid removed if her 1st thought after her daughter has been attacked and is blind drunk is, "let me run her a nice deep bath and leave her there unattended". Then I'll go lie in bed and worry about her whilst she's potentially drowning and is washing away all evidence. The raised inflection on the kids voices was also a tad irritating, but overall, it was a nice easy listen and enjoyable enough. Thanks

Decent

Well written and the narrator was excellent but whereas the story was good and many of the characters were well rounded, I new where it was going from fairly early on. Maybe I got lucky or perhaps I'm a above average when it comes to deduction.

It's certainly worth a listen and many people won't know where the story is heading so they'll enjoy it more than I did.

Great narration, predictable story.

I always find it frustrating when a plot rests on the main characters telling lies to those who love them, but overall the pace was good and the narration faultless.

Good narration, but plot a bit obvious
